2 year quest...target buck down !

Well to say that October was not the best hunting month for me..is an understatement.....But after bumping this buck heading in on Friday afternoon,   I had three different, close encounters with him on Saturday and Sunday.

 

On Tuesday morning I looked up at 75 yards and just saw a tree getting destroyed and was hoping it was him......After a slow 15 minute walk,  he made a scrape and gave me a clear 30 yard shot.........The shot "looked" perfect,   but the deer just ran 10 yards and stopped for 10 minutes !!  I was trying to see any blood coming out, but he was behind some brush and couldn't get a good look.

 

I decided I had to try to cock my crossbow, but with standing on 2 screw in steps and a safety strap across my waist....I couldn't reach low enough to cock it.......I finally managed to get it cocked as he started to walk away, slowly.....He then laid down about 15 yards from the tree and only about 30 yards from the original shot.     

 

I took the second shot and he ran about 70 yards and I saw him go down......After waiting an hour to get down,   I walked over to the first spot that he stopped for 10 minutes and there was a ton a lung of blood with plenty of bubbles in it...The second shot doesn't look like it was needed....but I never hesitate to get another arrow in, if I can.....

 

I have a two year history with the buck and glad it all came together   !!
