Crossbow Maintenance

I have an older model Tenpoint Wicked Ridge crossbow that I have had sitting in my closet for about 2 years without being cocked and shot.  Looking to get back into the woods this year - would it be best to have a pro shop take a look at the Crossbow and re-string it?

I would say yes. The cables maybe dry and snap on you. Safety first

Yes that is my gut feeling as well...trying to take shortcuts - not worth the potential safety issues!  Thanks!

I agree that you should bring it to your pro shop. I checked the timing dots on my Xbox at the end of the season and the cable was just over one of the timing dots. When, I checked the bow this year, apparently, the string and cables stretched well out of timing. I was surprised how much. I was ready anyway for a new string/cables since the Xbow has been shot a lot, but I was very surprised how much it stretched just sitting around in the off season.

I always try to take mine in every other year for pro shop maintenance to cut short any mishaps.

Crossbow maintenance is overrated.  Just a scam to get your money.  I've been shooting this one for 50 years with no issues.
