Foot hold trap question

I know foot hold traps are illegal to use, but are they illegal to be in possession of, or to sell in NJ. Just curious because I saw one for sale on market place.

Yes. Use or possession is a no-no. Unless it is rendered permanently disabled to be used as a wall hanger.

the thing that always confused me was the "rendering it useless" part such as welding the jaws shut or open. but even in that case, you still have a foot hold in your possesion? working or not isnt it still a foothold in your possesion? is there more to that law?

they do make great wall pieces espically if you get your hands on some wolf or bear traps.

It's no different than permanently pinning a magazine to 10 rounds

Nope it's just a piece of steel then. I would think as long you remove the pan or dog I would say it's no longer operable and it's nothing more than a paper binder clip

I have a foot trap from my grandfather. I welded it open and made a trailer hitch receiver cover. Its been noticed by wardens and they've actually told me that it looks nice. Just a decoration at this point.

3 years without any trouble. I highly doubt most even notice it let alone know what it is.
