Rhode Island DIY boating / fishing excursion pics

Took my son, cousin, and her husband to Narragansett bay 7/11, to fish this week. Staying in an Airbnb in Bristol.  Been trailering my boat  10 minutes south to Portsmouth to launch to be closer to Newport. Plan was to fish around the Jamestown - Newport bridge where my son and I destroyed the bass,  blues and big fluke back in 2013.  Well day one started  with us getting into busting 3-4 lb blues 100 yards from ramp.  Then headed out to bridge to find no bass anywhere. Then I got  a 21” fluke on very first drift - figuring would be epic fluking.  NOT! 4 shorts rest of that day just a few shorts since then. A local told me been real bad this year. Day two found us under the bridge by 6:30 am and I hooked up what appeared to be largest striper of my life on 10# braid spinning outfit (mostly what we using for bass and blues) and after a ling battle the hook pulled by boat. Nearly got spooled. Then I ventured us out into ocean a bit and maneuvered boat into many tight rocky areas and if u landed your soft plastic jig into the white water just right - often was met with violent strikes from hungry school size stripers.  Loads of fun. I ended day with trying to fluke again this time trying 30’ of water all around the many moorings in Jamestown harbor area. Hooked up a nice fluke and proceeded to drop a 26” fluke in netting range as my crew was a little slow to react. Ugh!  Just a few shorts after that.   Day 3 had us right back at the rocks and more fish. Then ran west to tip of Jamestown - Beavertail.  Finally got on the fish!   Mostly stripers to 30” with a few big blues to 10 lbs and one big seabass.  Yesterday - straight to Beavertail and fished from 6am to 2.  Left them biting and the bonus was a 3 man limit of (3 fish - 15” min) of seabass that we’re all 16-20”!   So scenic too.  Back at it shortly today and tomorrow. Then back to reality.

Back at it and still on the fish maybe a tad slower today. Highly recommend Lhnker City plastic products on 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce jig heads for this fishing. Sluggo is best sand eel imitation I have ever seen.  Fin-ess split tail and the shaker paddle tail - the latter in 4.5” bubble gum ice is killer.  But the sluggo would be my all around go to because the big seabass destroy them even over any gulp product.  Sand eels rule
