60 inch is a great NJ fish. I can't explain why, but fish in Cape Cod are bigger & tend to eat more aggressively. Smallest I ever caught there was 64 inches. Often hope for unders, but never happens. See them airborne. Average fish there is 68 inches/150ish lb

They leaner there ? 68” fish here will go over 200 most times . 70” run between 230 and 260 here

I am not great w weight, as only fish we weigh is commercially sold fish (73 inches or bigger). Usually describe bluefin in inches because only weigh sold fish. They are dense and heavy for sure. Started to get eager for tuna. Just got some jigs that are my go to...

SO NICK is that 60" like the size we are gonna catch in Cape Cod?    If so i am good for "one" then will retire to the bar please.

If your jigging , you will love it and be ready to drop down and catch the next one .

You get the leverage of the rod against the fish

You like the smaller assist hooks ?

I use 8/0 and 9/0 when I tie mine so they can’t get stuck on the jig as easy .

i like a jig very simaler , just the plain Stingo PBJ but take his hook off and use an assist hook .

the heavy RUN  OFF  sand eels have also done well for me in the past . But also remove his hook and put an assist hook on .

they swim way different than a flat jig .
