Left work at noon today and headed to the Big D to fish for shad hoping the oncoming rain would keep the crowds away .

went 15/16 catching all solid roe’s .

second fish I caught was the nicest shad I have caught since the early 80’s.

I can palm a 5 pound fish and couldn’t get my hand around this one without squeezing down harder than I felt would be good for releasing the fish .

fish was well over 2” across her back .

had her at my feet five times  And she screamed drag. Back across  the river before finally landing her lightly against my waders and quickly removing the hook ..

.

Was weird night , fish were all along that far seam as far as we can cast there .

only hooked 2 fish on the swing .

water was the lowest I have seen there .

had 12 before the rain , and only 3 during it . Usually the harder it rains there the better they bite .
