If they are retiring then good for them but  Yea sad to see businesses that's been around a long time go out because of regulations or due to this virus not being able to charter.

There is more to it than just regs and virus. This industry is not well for many years now and its a tiny fraction of what it used to be. This boat was a legend with the winter time  24hr bottom trips.

Sad? I guess. Depends how you look through glass.

boating (fishing by boat) has become more affordable/obtainable for the average person.

Definitely don't agree with that .

Boat prices have doubled since Sandy .

Except for current gas prices at the shore have been through the roof .

And with most boats getting 2 miles or less to a gallon it's an expensive day out .

Was much cheaper to run a boat before 2012

Expensive. Gas up the boat to go out and catch a bunch of shorts. Cost me probably 150 bucks just to drop my boat in the water each time

You guys really trying to argue that boating is less obtainable than ever before? Look up boat sales (preowned and new) data. More people with boats, more friends with boats.

Are there less bathrooms in homes today than there were in 1975?

Boat prices have doubled... exactly, only because the demand is there.

Real reason is the used boat market in Florida supplied most of the East Coast.

last hurricane a few years ago that destroyed the keys , also took out about 90% of the boats.

boats that could be bought weeks before for 75 K were 150K overnight .

demand went through the roof.

that demand didn’t make them more affordable it took prices out of reach for many families .

if you think starting boats in the 20-23 ‘ range are with 75-100K you must have a great job

less obtainable or affordable? That's a big difference.

They doubled in prices so they are "more affordable/obtainable for the average person."?:headscratch:
