Bow fishing is a blast PP.  I'm not familiar with your area down in Pork Roll country but I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.  Best of luck.

I live in Camden County. I've taken my son, co-workers, and friends bowfishing years ago.

It is really fun and exciting. You only need a minimum of gear, such as a rest to hold the heavy fiberglass arrow, heavy line, and a basic reel to attach to the bow.

You can easily find all the gear and kits necessary on the web. Look around it is part of the fun.

NOW... for the rest of the story!

Beware of where you go. I have had neighbors around the park call the police on me thinking I was shooting ducks while bowfishing.

Police arrived threatened to arrest me. I showed my and my sons fishing license. Told the cop we are allowed as per the State Digest. Also showed him the digest which states you are allowed to bowfish. Still no go. Told no weapons allowed in any County parks.

I contacted the State regarding my incident. The State said the local towns have the final say if you are allowed to bowfish in their jurisdiction or not.

So..... If you have a quiet private place to shoot carp, go for it.

It's a load of fun.

I thought there use to be a couple hard core guys on here that did it heavy, and traveled to tournaments, etc. Or maybe it might have been the other site before it went down the tubes, can't remember their names. They had some really nice boat setups. Remember they had a display at Bangers during that yearly show before they closed

Here’s something to consider, as a kid I’d bowfish every day. Wasn’t long until I switched to a recurve. The arrows weren’t going through a fish and winding up in a stump. Losing arrows was past tense.
A stykbow offers the benefit of shooting off the shelf too. Nothing is more bullet proof than that. Modern compounds often wear drop away or another rest not really good for bowfishing. Don’t use an old deer rig unless you modify it. Get yourself a styk or lighter poundage compound and set it up just for that imo
