A little rust wont hurt them......be careful what you put on them as some treatments will kinda change the look.....( they become gray ) .........

Try either silicon spray  or spray lacquer.  Rem oil with Teflon spray should also  work.

what Kype said...look up electrolysis. I used the process on a old Harley tank that was rusted internally and with the process...all the rust magnetically attached to the bolt I dropped in the tank.
