A certain white oak mast crop failure this fall......

With the recent record lows, frost, and snowfall conditions in some areas where oaks were flowering already.....

White oak mast crop may be a bust this fall.

Red oaks should save the day.....thats only if their flowering cycle wasn't adversely affected during last years 2019 spring weather .....if so.....and there is 2 consecutive springs of poor flowering conditions....ie double jeopardy.....Definitely not a good scenario and total acorn failure, red and white, may result.

Put in an extra food plot or 2....or buy more bags of corn!!

We had very few white oak acorns here last fall, almost none. 2 years in a row would be bad.

Apples, crab apples and pear as well......a cold snap at just the wrong time can ruin everything.... I have definitely noticed a difference in an area where we hunt upstate New York with the crab apples... the low areas of the higher elevations that collects cold air has had less consistency last few years producing

Oaks are just starting to bloom on the mountain.  Those should produce.  There are still a lot of acorns on the ground from last fall'  No deer around to eat them.

Really??  Where in NJ other than the Pine barrens are there no deer around to eat acorns?

The red oaks are more important than the whites, whites germinate as soon as they fall so they only last a short time in early fall.  Reds don't germinate until spring so they provide food throughout the fall and winter.

and in zone 1.  Another mismanaged park that was allowed to be over hunted.  Was a lot of deer and big bucks there before it was ruined.
