how to make one of these feeder hangers on the cheap?

Recommended Posts

I was going to buy one of these to hang a feeder bucket on a friend's property - this past winter here I was able to supply a family of deer with food :)  but I wanted a better way to hang the bucket and this looked good:

The EBay seller just raised the price so now its basically the same as the Amazon price - but even before it was a lot. I really don't want to spend $70.

I'm sure there are plenty of DIYers here that can come up with some ideas on how to make something like this for half the price. I can buy a pulley at Home Depot for 6 or 7 bucks, I already have rope and a ratchet strap... just need the steel frame thing.

In case you are bored sitting home in your 'rona lockdown, see if you can come up with something. ;)

Another option. 6" pvc pipe, fitting, cap and tie offs.  There is a screen in the bottom to Kat water out. Holds 50 pounds of corn and is easy to fill.

You can have the bottom on the ground or hang it higher to keep turkeys and other critters from feeding directly from the feeder.

I have the same set up, but  just bungee it to a tree on the ground.  Never thought about hanging it though.  Interesting idea because last year a squirrel actually got stuck in it because I didnt have a cap on the top!!

Piggy Backing on Bucksnbows.   Feeders hung on a single tree will be trashed by bears.  I suspend a cable between 2 trees and use a pulley on the cable.  Effective, cheap, and simple.
