Warbler Fall-out

My Son and I took yesterday off to photograph warblers.  Rainy days are great fall-out days as the birds tend to drop out of the sky to feed.  The lighting is horrible on days like this.

Not a warbler at all...NJ's largest woodpecker the Pileated.

I had 14 warbler species in an urban migrant trap in town yesterday. I been birding in NJ for 29 years. Monday morning should be terrific according to birdcast.info

We are birding all day tomorrow. If the wind subsides we expect a high tally.

Nest about 5 feet from my front door in the bushes. Last year she made a nest right on my front door on spring wreath

Maybe I’ll will hit Sandy Hook. It sometimes traps migrating birds on the way North like Cape May does on the way south

I saw a pair of Scarlet tanagers in the Newark watershed today while it was snowing. They let me get amazingly close but the pics still came out crappy. You have to zoom way in.
