I machined a 2"×4" mold and cast this ceramic call and dipped it in acrylic.  It sounds great!  It sounds different depending on where you strike.  It has different tones depending on where you strike.  Like multiple hens instead of one hen.

You strike mainly on the opposite flat side but you can also strike some parts of the wavy side.

I'm going to cast 4 more. One each in copper, aluminum, zinc and 999 silver to see how they sound.

I recorded myself using the call.  The first half I used the ceramic call combined with a mouth call.  The second half is just the ceramic call.

NickMarch- you are good on those Calls Indeed! Ceramic sounds great.

Thanks Fred!

I'm going to cut another mold and invert it.  Instead of the peaks rising from the call they will be cut into the call.  In other words both sides will be flat with groves cut into the call.  Then I will cast both types with ceramic and different metals.

The things I do when im bored!

You could probably sell those calls.

There are a few issues that I need to fix but they won't be a problem.  I'll  get them fixed.  I don't know if I will sell but when I'm happy with it I will give you one!

nice job nick sounds real good....

I can make it sound better and I will!

It's the Tom and hens that I'm more interested in.  It brings in both but there are more hens.  Bring in the hens and the toms will follow! Bring in the hens and let them call the toms for me.  BOOM!

I never could get why everyone calls for toms/jakes only so I've been working on the hens.

I'm going to go try a few Sunday if I can.  I have some that work now but I want to make them better.

Do you have additional videos? The one from last year will not open.

I may have deleted the vid or made it private.  I'll have to check and see if it's still at youtube.

Nick March here was nice enough to mail me a few of his new calls last year and this year as well.

I called up a Gobbler on a Railroad Bed when,I was high up above it. He came in silent behind me when, I was checking a Field . Unfortunately, I  could not turn quickly  enough as last Spring ,I  had Plantar Fasciitis  in my right foot- ( Policeman's Foot). He was able to get away. That awful pain is 95% gone now and,I  have been able to once again practice my Muay Thai low Calf Kicks and inside leg kicks with both legs and hit my Boxing on my 125lb Heavy Bag. But,I  digress.

Now that same day that,I  called up that Gobbler,I  also Called up a Hen Turkey! Cynthia saw her first.

You have a first rate Caller when you can call up a Hen. Now,I  like Nick March's  Calls for short range- under 100 yards and of course,I  will continue  to use my other Calls as well.

Going to upload a picture of 2 New Calls Nick March sent me. They work together  in a number of ways.  I run the Yelps about a 1/4" from the Rim in a straight line

I think Nick March has a Winner here!

Strikers are Hickory,Black Walnut, and Purple Heart.

Most commercial calls are to loud.  They make toms shock gobble instead of bringing them in.  My calls are at a volume best heard by turkeys.

Turkeys hearing is different than ours.  They hear much better than we do.  While we hear sounds in bytes about 1/20 of a second long, birds discriminate up to 1/200 of a second. That gives turkeys the ability to hear shorter notes, where one note to us equals ten notes to them.

They will hear that call from way more than 100 yards away.

I must have deleted it.  It's a vid of an old call anyway.  The new two pot call is better.  You can really suck at calling and just make nose with the new call and both hens and toms will come in.

Calling really isn't that hard.  I've called in both hens and toms with a kalimba, rubber bands, a Jews harp, an ocarina, a drum, an aluminum can, chimes, a copper pipe, a metal melting crucible, a mouse squeaker, a whistle, balloons and other things.

They hear each other all day every day.  The same sounds over and over again their whole life.  They are attracted to different new sounds as long as they aren't to loud.
