PA stocks mutants like tigers.  Most caught in stocked streams in NJ are club fish that moved down (or up) from a club and came from the Musky Trout Hatchery.  They grow their tigers without needing concrete raceways which means they keep their pectoral fins more or less intact.  Some anglers think they are catching a wild tiger because the fins are so nice, but that's not the case.  That said, we do have wild tiger trout wherever native brook trout and wild brown trout co-exist.  But our wild tigers seldom reach more than 10" or so.

They are a beautiful and hard fighting fish, caught few when I had passes for a fishing club on the Musky. Nice job!

Vern grows some nice fish, he doesn't overcrowd and the use of round holding tanks work well, big difference from the overcrowded square raceways like the  Pequest

There’s actually quite a few Tiger Trout that call the Delaware River home. I have caught quite a few of them over the years in the Pequest and the Paulinskil Rivers between the waterfall in the Pequest and the Delaware and the same in the Paulinskil before they removed the dam. So neither River has any private fishing clubs anywhere near so there definitely Delaware River fish! How did they get there 🤷🏻‍♂️
