Wildgame 225 quick set deer feeder

Don't get anything made of plastic. Tree rats will chew right through it eventually.

I had a plastic feeder bucket and within a month they chewed several holes on the bottom of it, spilling the corn all out on the ground... smart little buggers.

I ended up making my own with a metal bucket with a locking lid, cutting a hole in the bottom, and attaching a feeder spinner from Moultrie. Lasted the rest of the season without problems. I put the timer on for only one time of the day (right at dawn) for 6 seconds. Had a family of deer come religiously to the feeder every morning. Full bucket lasts about 3 or 4 weeks before you have to refill it - takes less than a full 40# bag of corn to fill. Batteries should last a couple months if not more - if you get lithium batteries probably last all season.

I just tied a rope and hung it over a heavy branch so it was far enough out they couldn't get to it from the side. I plan on putting it out again in a few months.

(actually, that's a 10 gallon bucket - will hold more than what I described above - I have the 6 gal. bucket. This one: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/behrens-6-gal-galvanized-sheet-steel-garbage-pail)

Moultrie Feeder: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/moultrie-all-in-one-deer-feeder-timer-kit

Those links are to Tractor Supply - you can get those same items from Walmart and Amazon probably for cheaper. Probably cost between $50 and $60.

I never had a feeder. Thinking of putting one in my backyard to feed the deer and the tree rats just to enjoy. Any feedback appreciated thank you.

Robert, if bears are not an issue where you are setting the feeder up, I would go with a large capacity (220 lb) tripod feeder from Moultrie, such as the Moultrie Deer Feeder Pro with the quick lock system...

Very reliable, simple to program, and well made. One of the best additions I bought for mine was the Moultrie Varmint Guard/cage. The squirrels would deplete hundreds of pounds of corn until it was installed. Works perfectly. Attached two links below for you to check out.
