Feral cats?

As long as some one is feeding them your going to have a problem.  Either call animal control to deal with your neighbor feeding the cats or get used to them. TNR is largely ineffective as long as some one is feeling and attracting new cats to the population.    Even trapping and euthanasia has been shown to be ineffective if the food source is not eliminated.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the threat of getting rabies alone makes me think it might be time to do some population control. Are these cats truly wild, or are they someone's pets that are allowed to roam free?

I think it's a mix. I have observed a few regulars, but some new ones come and go.  My dog has found one den in a wooded area. They are in some old drainage pipes.

Lmfao , “ Even trapping and euthanasia has been shown to be ineffective if the food source isnot eliminated.  “””..

without a doubt that is the only effective solution.. spaying a cat and waiting 8 years for it to die isn’t my idea as an effective control measure . I have a local cat nut who petitioned and is setting up a TNR in my neighborhood and now we all have to deal with her “ love for cats “ . FML

I'd give Animal Control the benefit of  doubt, but if they don't take it seriously, I'd go to Plan B. :ninja:

You can laugh all you want but from a population perspective a spayed female is no longer contributing to population growth.   The reason tnr AND trap euthanasia doesn’t work is because as long as there is a food source you will have continued immigration to the population.  Those immigrants will not be spayed and neutered and will contribute to the colony growth.  If you don’t eliminate the feeding the problem will continue no matter how many you tnr or kill.  Numerous studies support this.

Correct. It is no different for rodents like rats. Remove the food source and they will move on
