Turkey Hunting and CO/Ranger

Has anyone ever been stopped by a CO/RANGER while Turkey hunting? If so, for what reason?

Just wanted to check our licenses. This was at Colliers Mills, maybe 10 years ago.

Yep.  Was stopped on youth day a few years ago when I was taking my 12 year old nephew.  Checked his license, shells and to make sure the gun was plugged.  Startled us as they waited by my truck and came out of the bushes as we walked by.

No but twice in two years, friends of mine were stopped by a CO in the parking lot on way out.  In both instances, the CO just checked their license, permit, and plug. Just doing their job.

I have never been stopped while turkey hunting, but I have been stopped too many times to count while goose hunting, (30 years ago my brother, a friend of ours and I would water fowl hunt between 3-6 time a week on public land) and when I was on a hunting club we would get checked the first Sunday of the new year every year.   All of us were always treated fairly, and none of us were ever given a ticket or even a warning.

I have been stopped twice on public ground. Same thing. Checked gun. License and permit. No big deal

Checked the usual, license, permit, plug, call etc.

Never an issue and usually a pleasant experience.

Great replies gentlemen.  I got stopped on state land by 2 and 2 more as backup. I actually thought they were rude when I asked them why are there four rangers here for a senior citizen. Maybe they were looking for illegal aliens.

CO's stop people during turkey season?   Why?  To give out $10 tickets for not having a license?  Speeding?  Tail light out?  Not using a turn signal?

Maybe you can't comprehend what you read or maybe getting senile?  I never got a summons or any violations from FW in over 45 years of hunting.  I do not hunt turkey or deer over bait.  I've said it God knows how many times but some people (?) Won't ever get it.
