Jaw injury - droptine discovery

So I had 2 bucks with double droptines comin for mounts this season...and both had no incisors /messed up jaw bone growth.

 

I thought it was very rare to see no incisors, and thought there must be a direct relation to them both having double droptines..

 

With a quick facebook post- I found evidence of other droptine bucks that had same jaw issues..

 

So as we know broken legs make antlers grow funky- it seems deer with jaw issues grow droptines! Lol

 

Heres just a few examples I found in a few days.. every day someone else comes forward with more proof..

Good plan.  Pretty cool discovery though. So aging a Droptine is a no go since they use the 2 front incisors.

Yes. I saw that same buck a year earlier about a mile away and it was about the same size as when she shot it a year later.

Very interesting Your a good taxidermist that pays attention to every little detail. Thanks for sharing . Hopefully my next mount will be a drop tine buck coming your way.
