Rough hunting

This time of year has been rough for seeing deer. Last few times out been seeing nothing.  Guess the pressure and late season and lack of cold weather for this time of year is to blame. I could go else where and hunt but the managment hunt I'm on has definitely been managed. Will be glad when season is over. Season is way to long.

By the time winter bow ends, I've had enough.  If the itch persists I'll go into places with the camera where I wouldn't go with the bow and have to drag one out.  Shed hunting soon too.

I hung it up 2 weeks ago. Took two doe and two bucks so freezer is full. I'm starting to think about trout season now.

Agree it's a long season.  Easy to get burned out.

I just love being out there. And with my new smoker I find a lot more ways to cook it. Smoking a 8lb pork roll experiment as we speak. I will probably go three or four more times before the end of season.

The deer are all herded up. I have 30 to 40 in the yard every day. I have no friggin idea where they are coming from

I haven't been out since I shot my buck.  We have a cell cam and there's a dozen does and a few bucks on it every afternoon as long as we put corn there.

I haven't bow hunted in years. December is a wreck for me to get out. Late season weekends allow me and some friends to get out. The deer are scarce on public land, but we have a blast. I've got a Costco boneless leg of lamb dry brining for the smoker tomorrow. Costco... For guys who are crappy deer hunters

Once my son had two in the freezer I was done ...work and life just too busy , I bought permits with the hopes but no luck just couldn’t get out .  Scored on some lead the other day so hopefully I’ll be pouring some jigs to be ahead of schedule for fishing season.

I have enough jigs poured , just have to start tying again. Plus tying some darts and make some more Flutter spoons before shad season.
