Those "lifts" are funny as hell. DeNiro is kind of small in real life. Big presence on the stage. But most actors are pretty short like Tom, Cruise, Dustin Hoffman, etc.

A friend of mine is an extra in the movie. Supposedly he can be seen in the scene where the Irishman gets an award, but I couldn't find him.

Unlike Goodfellas and Casino the Irishman is not historically accurate. It is a story made up by Sherhan to make money in his old age.. Sherhan wasn't that close to Hoffa or Buffilino. He was a low level Philadelphia mob hit man. Hoffa's body was brought back to NJ by Tony Pro and disposed of, not cremated.

There are also noticeable technical errors:

Several of the people he shoots he does a double tap with a revolver. Firing two shots that fast with the long trigger throw of a double action revolver is not possible.

There's another scene where he gets into a '57 Plymouth with someone else driving. The camera is looking through the windshield.  You can see where the finish is worn off the steering wheel in the prop car. In that time period that would have been an almost new car with no wear on the steering wheel.

When Sherhan first meets Buffilino he helps him fix his truck. Supposedly the timing chain jumped time. If that were the case it would take a lot more work to fix it (even temporarily) than tightening a  loose screw.

I am disappointed with this movie. Partly because of the hype and partly because I despise Deniro.
