JHbowhunter 10,521 Posted Tuesday at 02:05 AM Much hyped, opened in theaters and now settled in on Netflix in short order. About as all-star a cast you will ever see. Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa, DeNiro as Frank Sheeran, Pesci as Russ Bufalino. I fell asleep first time trying it out for 3.5 hours. Second time through was a charm. Not one of Martin Scorsese's best - that is my assessment. Very good history lesson though, for the most part. I remember my dad speaking about "Tony Pro" Provenzano visiting him (threatening him) when he first started out as a teamster member at a very young age as a mechanic and then starting his own business. My dad had no love for the teamsters or any of their leadership - felt it was the most crooked organization all time. I will give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Maybe because DeNiro is such a doosh in real life but still like most of his movies. Not his best performance. Pacino did better. Pesci - very subdued role, did not have to act too much. 2

Bonefreak 2,158 Posted Tuesday at 02:19 AM Yup. Much hype. Interesting history of that era. Big time cast....Deniro thinks he's tough in real life cuz he plays one in movies. Pesci played a quiet role. Pacino nailed it as a boisterous Hoffa, who, as we all know, should have not gone mouthed off to the mob. Long 3.5 hrs but made it thru first sit. Zone50BugNerd 390 Posted Tuesday at 02:20 AM It was painfully slow and drawn out. I was less than impressed to be honest.

It was more about the actual story than a story hyped up for the audience. I liked it but I had read the book and knew what to expect.
Sharpdogs 190 Posted Tuesday at 10:33 AM I watched it over Thanksgiving. It was a big disappointment. 3.5 hours of my life wasted. 1
Lunatic 8,765 Posted Tuesday at 11:04 AM I have no clue how any of you can sit and watch anything for 3.5 hrs. as to teamsters not much has changed.
archer36 1,760 Posted Tuesday at 12:27 PM How do you try to compare any movie to the likes of the Godfather 1 and 2, Goodfellas, Casino, etc. It was too long. I think it would have been more impactful if it was shorter. It's worth watching but hardly a must see ASAP. Performances were very good but after you see these guys in comedy roles, it ruins their dramatic credibility.
