4 calls going to a du dinner

Recommended Posts

These calls are tuned for the experienced callers,  the wood duck call can get the 3 note sounds. starting low swinging up and then back down, the one when they are just swimming around, chillin out.  also the 2 note high to low sound that is so hard to get on a lot of calls.  The mallard is tuned for speed and control. to achieve this we have the reeds almost out to the opening of the barrel. with a short keg no back pressures built in.  the caller must know how to use the tip of the tongue and control air to get the best out of this call.  This style call is the call my son used to win the youth calling for a few years in a row and he took 3 for 2 years with this same style double reed.  The hen teal call is by far one of the most underused calls out there yet a very effective call not only on teal but on mallards and other ducks.  the problem with the hen teal is it is not blown like a mallard call,   Hen teal have short quacks.   the call is best blown by pushing short burst of air starting with the tip of the tongue saying the word too and stopping the sound with the tip of the tongue, airflow is maintained pressure and the tongue is the on off valve.
