Or is this state producing some real nice bucks this year?  I’m not sure what it is but it seems like some real nice deer have been taken this year so far?  It could just be me but based on the posts I have been seeing since September, it’s been a pretty good year so far and it’s just getting started.

this state turns out MANY great bucks.

Just a few minor changes to the regs and  it could get even better.

While many will say APR restrictions don't work the bucks being shot in PA prove they do .

would love to see NJ go to 2 bucks limit any way you want them.

need more deer than that shoot does.

bucks only need a little age on them here

2 buck limit and point restrictions would be great.

it's as simple as what Hammer said. I been saying that for at least 10 years.   But - This year had the full moons align for incredible rut action since about 10/14.  Even the buck I shot mid-September acted in ways that would suggest it was mid-October not mid-September.  This has been a very unusual season- enjoying the game even more because I had to wait since 9/17!

There have been a lot of good bucks taken this season so far, but I think there were some bigger ones taken last season.

100 percent agree with that. Didn’t want to get into it, but I could only imagine what it would be like if we cut the buck limit and add APR’S.  My only  experience in PA is public land in the poconos and it’s working. Keeps getting better and better...

I agree, there have been a lot of really nice bucks taken so far this year.

buck limit - yes

point restrictions - no

While I have read alk reasons guys don't think point restrictions work watching it work extremelly well in PA I disagree.

In Poconos guys shot millions of spikes and forkhorns for 40 years .

Since point restrictions were used to get age on the deer . There are Alot of giant bucks taken .

A 115 inch buck there used to bring bragging  rights in the papers .

Now there are 150 inch bucks taken yearly.

All those spikes are not bad genetic deer . They need that extra season to see what they really are

I think the late season (mid January into February) puts too much additional stress on the deer trying to outlive a winter.  It’s also a shame that many good shed bucks and button bucks get killed that late season (particularly shotgun) for the guys who want to shoot “brown it’s down” just because it’s late season or hunting an area that normally don’t hunt just because the season is available.  Point restrictions or limiting buck kill doesn’t do any good if some are killing these bucks as “antlerless” deer.  A buck kill should use a buck tag regardless if it has antlers or not.

Maybe social media pressure has been playing a role for past several years. There’s usually some negative remarks when a little buck is shot and seeing some of these post with hunters first bucks being pretty nice. I’d have to say they must’ve been passing some of the younger dumber ones.

Doesnt PA have a one buck limit? Was it always that way? I thought it changed to that years ago and that would have a lot to do with it if so?
