The link between dietary cholesterol, blood cholesterol and cardiac issues is dubious at best. Unless you get a really in-depth panel like an NMR, cholesterol numbers are relatively worthless indicators of future cardiac issues. Starting around age 40, depending on family history, you should be getting arterial ultrasounds every couple of years to look for plaque build up and nuclear stress tests every 5 years or so.
