After 45 years in the woods I ran across two of these white insects in the tree I was in,thought I was seeing things when they started to move very slowly. They look like moss but are white

Looks like white moss to me . New camo pattern

Yep,  saw one of those things during turkey season!!!  Thought my eyes were tricking me cuz of no sleep.
