Deadeye Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 Hornady® FPB™ Muzzleloader Bullets - .50 Caliber Full Bore Bullets 300 grain Bought some to try. Reminds me of my civil war musket bullet design. Would use the old replica carbine but need a scope for hunting these days. Have thought of some year trying a clamp on scope mount for my carbine but also not great for misty or rainy days anyway with the exposed cap. My logo target is from my musket at 50 yrs a while back. The good thing with the replica is I can shoot 12 shots without cleaning. (greased bullets) Not happy with what happened with the powerbelts I used. About a 30 yrd shot last year and bullet broke up quite a bit vs one hole through. TC sabots load too hard for second shot. Any comment feedback would be good to hear.
mattg1500 Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 Never used those. Ive tried the sst with mediocre performance. My inline gets harvester scorpoins and loves them. Wound channel was massive on a doe at 133yds last year. My flint gets hornady pa conicals. As far as powerbelts i dont believe they are good, way to much hype. Also theres no reason for u to have issues loading a 2nd sabot. I get 3 shots using white hots. Maybe your using poor quality powder? Not getting a full burn? Or change the sabot. If theres a bullet you like just wrap it in a different sabot. Good luck! Gets expensive testing
