archer36 Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 (edited) I've been shooting Pyrodex for years and I am running low so it's a good time to consider options. My main issue with Pyrodex is the fouling. They are very dirty. So I am mainly interested in one's that shoot "clean". Lots of different powders came out in the last 10 years or so. I know lots of people like BH209 but I will only use pellets. Thank you. Edited October 26, 2019 by archer36
BHC Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I like the convenience of pellets...I get great results with two pellets of TRIPLE 7 MAGNUM electric10162, Shootstraight, username and 1 other 2 2

Not as bad as black powder, but not as good as blackthorn When at the range I clean it before leaving, I uh se Thompson Center cleaning solvent it works great, electric10162 and archer36 2

electric10162 Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I've used Triple 7 for many years with great results. Three 50 grain pellets in my TC Encore. Easy to clean with TC bore solvent. BHC and archer36 2

Woodsman416 Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I've always used Triple 7 pellets in my Omega. I always had great accuracy with no ignition problems. I do have to run a brush through the barrel after each shot because of the crud ring that's left at the bottom of the barrel. I picked up a Savage 10 ML-II last year and wanted to switch powders for that so I just ordered 5 lbs of Blackhorn 209 from Powder Valley to shoot out of both guns. Loose powder isn't as easy as pellets but if I don't have to swab the barrel after each shot that will more than make up for it.
