Bonefreak Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Creepy lil bastards been wreaking havoc on the wife and kids!! Me not so much cuz I've been known to use em for panfish bait, but I'm tired of hearing the screeches come from the basement!! Glue traps with a kernal of dog food as bait.....voohwa-la!!! Rusty, SPEARFISH and Buck154 3
jsickles33 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 i get them in my basement here and there, cave crickets. Running a dehumidifier has helped reduce numbers but still get a few with the glue traps. Still gets me when they come hopping out of a dark corner when I'm not expecting it! Bonefreak 1
Lunatic Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I’m doing the same thing but using cat food:-) Bonefreak 1
JHbowhunter Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 i was running glue traps with no food - got some but gonna add some dog food now, thanks for the tip! Bonefreak 1 Nothing spooks deer more than my stank… 16 3/4” Live Fluke Release Club I shot a big 10pt once….

Shootstraight Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I get those suckers in one blind every year. I just hit them with raid and they do not come back. Creepy things. SS! Bonefreak 1
Tarhunt Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Just use glue boards. No need to use dog food. Huntfree77 1 "The Nation Which Forgets Its Defenders, Will Itself Be Forgotten".
Haskell_Hunter Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I run a dehumidifier 24/7/365 and keep the basement to about 35% r. humidity. They don't survive down there, and the only time I see them is when they're dead. Bonefreak, Lou.D and not on the rug 2 1 Sapere aude. Audeamus. RPK0620 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Dehumidifier runs year around but they come in from my garage..... will get glue boards tomorrow, have about 70# of dog food. Bonefreak 1 I thought, growing old would take longer ! I spent most of my money on shotguns and fly rods. The rest I just wasted.
Tarhunt Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Take it from a pest control professional, you don't need dog food as an attractant. The crickets eat fungus, plant matter and fabric. They don't eat dog food. Just put out the glue boards and you'll be fine. RPK0620, hammer4reel, Swamp_Yankee and 2 others 2 2 1 "The Nation Which Forgets Its Defenders, Will Itself Be Forgotten".
hammer4reel Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Just takes one on the glue trap. all the rest try to eat him and glue trap fills up quick Bonefreak, Huntfree77 and Dominant buck 3

I just had Viking come spray the basement for them, that every six months or so plus glue traps and the dehumidifier keeps their numbers low in the basement and non-existent on the upper floors. Look at em....all aiming rt towards that salmon meal tablet in the middle!! Lol I did research that they are indeed carnivores. Yikes! I will try an experiment....one trap w bait...one without....Will post results!! MGHunter66 1
Reeltight Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I don’t use anything except a plain glue board and I catch so many you can’t even see the board. Definitely don’t need dog food. I always have a dehumidifier running in the basement and that doesn’t seem to do anything. The only problem I have is that the cat seems to step on the glue boards every once in a while. Bonefreak 1
Woodsman416 Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Yeah, with the current low price on cricket hides there's no way your gonna make a profit wasting all your money on dog food bait. I 'member back when Greece had a viable economy and the price of cricket hides went through the roof! Those were some shinin' times! LanceinNJ, madeinuk, MGHunter66 and 3 others 6
