Costco, for hunters who suck

Recommended Posts

So I'm seeing all the great pictures of successful guys here. Haven't made the effort to get out. Might get banned from here for lack of effort! I'm power washing house, algae got real bad on siding. so I picked up 18 wings, and Costco Baby Backs. Beer is in the cooler. Wings air dried overnight with salt and baking powder. Ribs with Amazing Ribs Memphis Dust. I'll post food porn later.

How are you preparing? Smoking? Frying? Baking?

If you ever want to do wings, IMHO, this is the best brand and kind to get.

You have to get WINGETTES, not wings.  These are already cut at the join and they are big.  I usually deep fry a batch for football games.  Drop them in the frier naked until they float.  Coat with seasoning of your choice (buffalo, BBQ, or cajun).  Eat.  You can find these at your local grocery store.  They are not cheap, but they are meaty and larger than most bulk wings.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

I'm smoking them on a Weber Smokey Mountain 18. 1/2 chimney Kingsford Blue. Water bowl full, full load of briquettes. When its holding 250 I add a large chunk of apple wood to side of lit coals. Won't open it for 2 hours. At 2 hours I spritz with cider, ginger ale, rum, equal parts today. At 4 hours I check for the bend and see if they break. I take them off dry, But if someone wants them sauced I put them on gs grill on high. I hold them in the oven on warm till dinner.

Done Powerwashing and cracked the first cold one. My son leaves these in my fridge from time to time!

Hey Haskell, I try and get the biggest wings available. If it has the ends I cut them off and save for stock. I used to fry and  fried are better, these are close but you can't crisp the skin like frying. My buddy smokes then fries. Too much work for me.

So here's the end pictures. I used a little too much baking powder on the wings but after saucing its not noticeable. It was a good day, finished the power washing while the smoker did its job. Now all I have to do is connect with a deer this year, if not Costco keeps me from starving with the License Stew or Road Kill fit for a King Buffet!
