Fisherman Dies in Fall Off Rocks

Sad deal for sure. Seems like a  fisherman succumbed from his injuries falling off of the Manasquan inlet Jetty. His fellow fishing buddies assisted in his recovery, injuring themselves also. Prayers for all involved. You never know!

Apparently he was fishing with his 2 sons. So sad. Those cement castings one the end are very hazardous. I had a friend who fished them in his younger days. I thought he was a little crazy.

I hate those jetties and the jigsaw pieces.  Very dangerous IMO.

I fished there 100s of times when I was young. Very dangerous.

I used to fish off the Manasquan jetty in my 20s and even times off of the very end on those cement castings.  Caught a tuna once.  It had to be God looking over me...

Fished the Manasquan Inlet jetty as a kid during the mid to late 50's and you could go all the way to the end with not too much trouble, however when they put those dolosse (https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a241585.pdf) in it completely changed the nature of the inlet for the fishermen making it extremely slippery with the smooth surfaces and difficult to get around on them unlike when there were just the rocks. And, in some cases the drops between them were quite dangerous. 

Good I guess from the structural perspective but took a great recreational area and ruined it due to the now limited and dangerous access.

Ive fished there a million times, very sketchy especially when the surf is big. Sad.

I talked to my brother who is a diver. He said he heard of a couple of divers getting killed by those jacks at the Jetty end. He said they're a real hazard underwater too.
