Victory at sea fluking 8/24

,looked to be a window of fishable weather today where the wind would drop out to 10/15  during the incoming tide.

my buddy John and I headed out through  the 3/5 foot seas to a local reef.

Had to use a big drift sock to even fish and 8 oz bucktail, but the fish were hungry.

caught over our limit  of 18" fish, only retaining 4  ,each of us  keeping a spot open for a big fish.

bounced a few 4 pounders off the gunnels as it was a no net day .

Biggest I swung in was just under 6 ,

LOTS of aggressive shorts made for constant action between keepers.

at noon I had enough of the ear aches from the wind and we headed in before the tide change.

FIGURES there finally is a good body of fish here, and the weather will keep the boat tied up until at least Thursday next week.

Mistype for sure. :D

Glad to see a good report.

My boat has not been fluke fishing once this year and it might be time to get her wet again.

No mistype,

we were allowed to  keep 6 ( 3 each )

we were throwing back 18 and 18 1/2" fish for a larger fish .

def time to get out there and fish, only a few weeks left of the season .

And there are more fish here than has been all season .

Thats what I figured but you know how the internet police are.

After you retire I would like to do a charter with you to see how the fluke whisperer does it! :D

Can try and get out long before that .

No real secret .just try and find structure holding bait .

If you find that the fish will be around .

Lately it's alot of shorts for each keeper . So running through ALOT of gulp. And donating alot of bucktails to the rough stuff we are fishing .

Nice catch we were going back and forth all day yesterday about going today but both captains I fish with said no. I’m sure we could’ve fished with no problem but it’s their boat. Way to rub it in Thanks !

Was tough out there . Saw some smaller boats that were getting beat up pretty good .

Im sure when the tide changed early afternoon it would have been very ugly

got an email from Ralph - Last Lady II canceled all weekend trips due to NE winds...      Glad you got out and back safe-  but sounds like it wasn't "dangerous" just a bit uncomfortable.    Glad to hear the fish are moving in.       Well done!

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…
