Mine are Zone 7, weeks A and C.  I guessed wrong last year, but lots of things changed on our property and on state WMA land with logging, so the birds should have moved back to normal spots.  So far this winter, that seems to be the case.  But I'm not scouting turkeys on top of 2 feet of crunchy snow with more on the way this weekend.

I will be out in zone 7 for week A as well, I'll buy that OTC.  I did get 7D in the second lottery since you will be able to hunt all day with the new regs.  Not sure how much I'll be able to make it out after work, but I'm hoping at least a couple times.

is there a " Best" week to hunt turkey in jersey?

Our season runs a month here and anyone can hunt anytime during that time.....  Picking a specific week was really strange to me

I believe that theoretically the first week should be the "best" week.  The season is timed to be in the second peak of gobbling after most of the hens have actually been bred.  The birds have also received little pressure during the first week.

Now all that being said, nature does not always cooperate and the "best" week can and will vary.  The only element that won't change from year to year is the people pressure.

"A" week is extremely popular because the birds haven't been pressured at all yet. However, because of that, they get a large dose of "pressure" all at once. Shuts things down fast.

"E" which is weekends is also popular because that's when most people can hunt. I hate to say it, but I haven't done "E" (used to be "G") in a long time. Too many idiots out there on weekends. I've been stalked more times on Saturdays than every other week combined.

As the season goes on, less and less birds are "henned up" because the hens will finish laying their clutch and have to incubate like a full time job. That leaves gobblers lonely and looking for love. Of course they are a lot smarter by that point in the season too.

“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

I have hunted A week on this same area for a bunch of years and it always shocks me how radically different it can be from year to year and where the birds move to.  Two years ago I felt overrun by gobblers and last year I thought a nuke had taken them out entirely.  Last fall and this winter proved it's somewhere in the middle for our birds right now.

Good luck to all out turkey hunters out there and be safe!
