Man, just the sound of this clip reminds me of waiting for each show when I was younger. Unbelievable footage and was well done all the way around.

Marty Stouffer on Wild America, and Leonard Lee Rue III for his whitetail deer books for me.

Post up a show that reminds you of when you were starting out in the outdoors in this thread...

I have all these on DVD.  Actually showed them in my science class last days of school in June.

The American Sportsman was one of the early ones I watched with my brother. Remember a lot of the Wild America shows, remember the one where he was in scuba gear feeding trout stone flies out of his hand in the Yellowstone River

Back then there were no deer hunting shows. The only time you got to see a buck on TV was if they happened to show one on Mutual of Omaha or American sportsman.  It was a special occasion to see a deer hunting program on TV.

Not a show but “Bowhunting October Whitetails” was the first hunting video I ever watched.

I come from the days of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.

Thanks for sharing Greybeard! I remember being glued to the TV on the nights Wild Kingdom was on. They did some crazy chit back then.

I remember American Sportsman. I use to look forward to it every Sunday afternoon in the 60s and early 70s. I was in 8th grade when it started in 1965. The early years were mostly all hunting and fishing, but later there was less hunting and more other outdoor sports like whitewater rafting and skydiving. At that point, it started to lose its interest for me. Its hard for you young guys to understand, but back then it was the only hunting and fishing show on TV. One hour one day a week. Now with cable TV we have hunting and fishing shows 24/7.

I remember watching Wild America with my dad, good times!

Who else remembers looking through the TV Guide to see what was coming on?
