question for cord cutters

I'm cutting the cord with Directv and going with Youtube TV.

I'll have Optimum internet at 100 Mbps using their router.

If I'm streaming Youtube TV and there are two others streaming content, will the wifi be able to keep up?

I'm thinking maybe I should run an ethernet cable from the router to the tv, that way I save the wifi bandwidth for the other two potential streams.

But if I don't have to run the ethernet from router to tv, then I'd rather not.

So, will I have issues with 3 simultaneous streams over wifi?

Not sure if this helps...

I have service electric performance plan at $65

We use netflix, hulu, amazon, ps4, cellphone wifi, pc, tablets, laptops, and never have an issue other than maybe some ps4 lag once in a while..
Usually at least 1-2 cell phones and a tv on streaming facebook and netflix at any given time.

Most I know who tried Hulu TV went back to their cable provider.  Not sure about YouTube TV.  Streaming is demanding especially in 4k, so you want to be sure you have an adequate download plan and your home network setup preferably wired or with very good signal strength to WiFi anywhere you plan on streaming.

Once 8k becomes more prevelant that is where all the issues are going to come from it is going to use 80 to 100 Mbps for one stream

Agree although there are some barriers to delivering 4K as it is.  Content is quite limited, 8K is probably a ways off but I think you'll see a natural progression of internet speed upgrades to accommodate the requirements.  You know the "Your Internet Just Got Better!!!" commercials haha, meanwhile if they didn't upgrade line speeds, people's content would be a juttering jumbled mess.

There is actually some 8k content on YouTube already and there are 8k TV's but only a few  and they are like 10,000 dollars. The largest issue will be wirelessly steaming it. 2.4 GHz networks can really only do about 86 mbps standing right next to the router and 5ghz can handle the speeds but doesn't travel nearly as far. The need for wireless mesh networks or hardwired lines to devices is going to be imperative for it to work. The cable lines running down  most roads have plenty of space to do 10 gig download speeds and a gig upload as soon as the cable companys start ditching video service entirely or running it all as IPTV instead of traditional methods that are currently used.

I have standard dsl with 3 kids on tablets and voip phone and roku. My basic router/modem was not cutting it. The roku connects wirelessly to the router and would buffer constantly. I purchased a netgear nighthawk router/modem that was compatible with my dsl and it made a huge difference.  If you are hardwired you probably wont have any problems.

I dropped DTV about 8 mos ago went with Hulu Live and we already had Netflix. I am having really no issues with lagging or buffering with multiple TVs running, 3 cell phones and kid playing Xbox. I added HBO for GOT but now that’s getting dropped again. Watched the NHL playoffs with no problems but last night watching the Giants game the commercials became a problem. Cut my bill by over $100 per mo. Oh nothing is hard wired all Wi-Fi. I will see if the problems with NFL games continues and make adjustments. BTW I didn’t even go with the highest speed available.
