Trump greenlights Red flag laws... Thoughts?

Recommended Posts

I have mixed feelings on this.  While stopping a possible threat is good and will cut down violent crime at what cost does it come to us we the people..  frankly I have no issue with back ground checks and making states communicate info making a universal system.   Threats should always be taken seriously,  but the red flag law gives reason to take your fire arms on speculation wich I do not condone..  a neighbor could not like you n make a complaint falsely with no repercussion

I agree 100% Vito. We have a breakdown in society which no one is taking seriously and knee jerk reactions to instill laws that will be distorted from there real intent is eminent. We have drifted far from where we were when I was young.

It all depends on how it’s implemented. If there is due process and no abuse who would be against it. The problem is it will be very easy  to abuse it. It could work is the law is written well.

I can not believe how far. I would never believe this was possible in America

Slippery slope there.

Unfortunately lawyers will write it and lawyers always leave things open to interpetation. Thus...abuse

It’s worse that that. The leadership changes and the laws are ignored to any degree they please. We no longer have law and order when our politicians pick and choose which laws to obey and which to ignore. Maybe we the people should have the same power but I better watch what I’m asking for:shock:

Are you copying me? It has boggled my mind how todays politicians can pick and choose which laws they want to enforce or not.

John Adams said “the government should be of laws, not people”.

red flag will never pass as constitutional.  You can't enforce based on what "might happen" the laws are only enforceable once something happens.

However - there should be some national registry for mental illness - at least when it comes to obtaining guns legally.  Oh hell that sounds unconstitutional as well.    That can't happen.

Ban all the guns - but then again that is like cutting off every male penis to stop rape.

Here's what I think - THERE is no solution, at least not one that our current political system and legislature can solve!

I don't think anything will work, unless there is a major crack down on all crime. Our elected leaders have failed us across the board. They have PC paralysis and only worry about their own agenda.

A big problem is states dont communicate until conviction..  so say u get arrested in nj for robbery  your Id card gets suspended and you get restored if found not guilty.  Get arrested for same in say goergia you could in theory come back here and buy a gun.   Happned in Iowa I believe he was a violent felon in another state but didnt show on bg..  if someone posted they were going to say shoot a place up that is a threat and should not be taken  lightly and should be vetted..  but the problem is with red flag if a neighbor dont like you. They can say they dont feel safe that u have guns and they can take them with just that..

In order to decreace first they need to stop giving these people their minutes of fame..  yes mention the tragedy but keep the scums name off the news.   Stop plea bargaining violent crime enforce mandatory minimums.

If this law gets on the books, and socialist dems get total control of the government and courts, they will claim us all to be mentally ill for wanting to own a gun, and take them away from everybody.
