About when do the deer flies crap-out in Sussex county?  Gotta be pretty soon!

Always thought first frost is what killed the flies and chiggers here in NJ.

Has anyone notice the size of the green heads and deer flies  this year? Huge in size and amount.

What causes the flies to die in July?  Just their life cycle?  Down here pine flies are around until that first frost.

I've had some monstrous horse flies at the house this year

The adult phase of the life cycle is only 30-60 days.

I've too have had a shit load of then around this year.. Alot more than past years..it sucks to be in the pool once the sun starts to set and forget about going for a hike. I tried with my son this past weekend and just couldnt do it, turned back around let then a 1/4 mile in.
