Not sure if anyone is interested in the NYC Summer Streets Bicycle Ride. It's the first 3 August Saturdays 7am to 1pm. Its about 10 years old and I've done it for about 5 years. We usually ride in Central Jersey leisurely and end up in a bar. The Highlands route and ending in Carton is one of our favorites. This ride is unique and free! If you have done the 5 Boro Ride think more family friendly and not as intense. Its 7 miles from City Hall Park to 72nd street into Central Park. Off this route is the Union Square Market, great farmers market. McSorleys opens at 11am for the 2 crappy pours but you don't go for the ale. Old St Pat's is just off the course and is open,  a lot of history. There's Little Italy and Chinatown too. You also get to ride through Grand Central Station and Helmsley Hotel. I end up at the battery either Pier A or grab some cold ones at any of the hot dog shacks by the Circle Line. If anyone is interested let me know. I'm at the Staten Island Ferry by 6am. I'm pretty sure I'm on for the 3rd and the 14th.  Here's a link for more info

I'd take a bullet through my head before going into the city.  I did a lot of charity tours(century rides), mostly with my wife in NJ PA MA, and Orange Co NY.  Rest stops for food and drink about every 25 miles.  There are other ride options for around 30 miles to metric centuries.  Try one sometime if you haven't already.  They pick the best, most scenic country roads.  The covered bridge tour in PA was really nice.  Wife and I did a lot of our own rides on the tandem, along the Delaware, into Warwick and Monroe for lunch, or out of local parks on our own planned routes.  I did a lot of riding with bike clubs, putting on a century ride from Port Jervis, over the Gunk Mt to Minnewaska St Pk, and back .   There's a paved 9 mile(maybe longer now) rail trail into Monroe NY. Good Jewish deli in Monroe.   Lot of good riding around.

Had a fun ride today took SI 630 ferry. On course just after 710. First picture is North of Canal on Lafayette. The 2nd is my end of the ride, 15 miles today, cold one looking out over the harbor. Next ride on bucket list is the Columbia Trail in High Bridge. I've been wanting to do it for several years and its going to happen this year. I would like to try the new brewery after the ride. Cheers!

For the High Bridge ride, you have a brewery at both ends!!!  You can get off in Long Valley and go right in Long Valley Brewery and then return to High Bridge.  A bunch of us teachers do that ride every year on graduation day!!!  Cheers
