I don’t usually post. But I’d say this is a pump impeller. If the spelling is correct

that is a rotating assembly for 1 of 10 pumps that pump water from round valley to spruce run. the motors that run them are 2,000 horse power. from my understanding these pumps only run during the night. big stuff.

why are we pumping water from RV to SR ????  I need to get woke.

From my understanding it doesn’t. The underground piping system takes water from the south branch to pump into round valley. Very costly and rarely done. Only in NJ would we design a reservoir with no natural inflow :shakehead:

I figured Spruce Run creek was the source of SR reservoir.   Why would it need RV water( although it's colder and clearer would be nice addition to SR)

Spruce Run creek and the Mulhockaway creek feed spruce run. Round Valley doesn’t feed Spruce Run. Spruce Run is used to feed and keep appropriate water levels in the river for the treatment plants in Bridgewater, if it gets to low Round Valley starts to be used for it. Thus Spruce Run usually drops pretty low by August

I think many folks would be surprised to learn how interconnected our water supply systems are.  Not only here in NJ, but all over.  How many know that Lake Hopatcong is an emergency water supply for Jersey City, for example?  In that case, water is pumped from LH over the mountain to the Rockaway River where it flows south into the Jersey City reservoir in Parsippany.  One of many examples.
