Check out my nuts! Pics included!

This year looks like it's going to be a good year for my nuts!  I am trying to see if there is a correlation between my nut production and the overall acorn production.  Will probably take a few more years of data to see if there is one or not.

Hazelnut bush is completely laden with nuts, weighing down the branches considerably.

This is the first year for black walnuts, so I am super excited to see these!

Very cool........

Seriously, the smell of Black Walnuts brings me back to when I was a kid. My family had cabins in Walpack across from where the Walpack Inn is now. The hill was loaded with Black Walnut trees......Love the smell of those...

I was hesitant to open this thread tbh

Didnt realize hazelnuts grew on bushes. Kinda thought that all nuts grew on trees but I am no nut expert. Very cool.

These hazelnuts are a hybrid.  The ones you see in the stores are European hazelnuts, and those filberts are much larger than these, which are American Hazelnuts.

I got mine here:  https://www.arborday.org/programs/hazelnuts/join.cfm

They are incredibly hearty and very few pests attack them.  The only thing you have to worry about are squirrels eating all of the nuts.  It takes years for your first harvest, but after that they have a pretty good crop every year.  I have 5 bushes planted around the property in various locations.
