Seen and read alot of people complaining about the north region stocking as well as the short season,  here's a chance too participate in the survey, make suggestions, and hopefully make a change. Wishful thinking I know but better than doing nothing about it.

Got it today didn't have my CID number on me. I spoke to one pheasant/chukkar farmer last season... He he said somebody on Murphy's cabinets wife is a Peta higher up and they were talking about an new bill to getting rid of stocking/raising birds.

I hope the state post results and comments in a timely fashion.

Said it will be Posted Fall 2019.

As I filled it out I commented about the Black River WMA. IMHO the reallocation is to quiet the owners of the Mansions that have gone up around the WMA. They don't want to hear shots for 2 months in the Fall. 1 question regarded travel time. This is directly about getting numbers of hunters to the Water Gap from Black River and Clinton. I've hunted them all, but the Gap is another 45 minutes. I am no longer comfortable driving over an hour to small game hunt.

To me, I believe that in the not too distant future the NJ Pheasant hunting on Public Property will be phased out. They even asked that question. The costs are going to surpass what can be supported by Licenses and fees. The land even though was purchased by hunter monies  will be opened up to non-hunting activities for a fee. Hunters are going to be relegated to smaller and smaller seasons and animals available.

Hunting on Preserves will be the new way for a Pheasant hunt experience. Again another question that was asked.

Sorry for the rant.

Took survey

Proposed that since they are now buying birds.....they should offer a late season for January February for an extra $40 stamp....maybe just stock Saturdays

Sure would help w xabin fever...and much needed exercise after holiday gorging and keeping the bird dawgs in shape

Why not just buy the stamp for the next year and it covers it?

Sooo much to hunt in NJ.

OR

Maybe start the season a week or two earlier?

They make u buy a $40 stamp for the fall Nov/Dec season......

They would have to charge $40 or a little less for a Jan/Feb season to buy more birds.....

Or charge $60 for a season that runs Nov thru February......but January n February would only be Saturday stock days, instead of Tues  Thursday n Saturday

They have the personnel to stock in January n February because I am sure their lands management workers are not very busy

I know there is some demand for a late season.....n I am once again displeased that their were no questions on survey to gauge interest in a late season, because I proposed it last year during the survey

Too much falls on deaf ears w the Division....no wonder why council mtgs r held on Tues at 10 AM when no one can actually attend

I question how valid the results of this survey will be because it appears it is not being sent to all appropriate respondents. I have hunted pheasants at the WMAs since the 60s and have bought a pheasant stamp every year for at least the last 25 years. Also I hunt the WMAs for pheasants 2 or 3 days a week during the season since I retired 7 years ago. I did not even know there was a survey last year until I read it hear and did not get an email about it this year. The DF&W has my email address. I routinely get emails from them. This week alone I got 4 emails including the striped bass survey. Yet an issue I am very interested in I get nothing. Go figure!!

I will be sending an email to DF&W questioning why I didn't get the survey.
