Bad short to keeper ratio fluking

Took my uncle out yesterday afternoon in SR. Well the bite was a fast and heavy at times but the size was small. Managed to find 2 keepers out of 80 plus shorts. Not a good ratio at 40:1.

One of the reasons I got rid of my boat. A  100 bucks in fuel and ramp charge, all day fishing, cleaning and hauling the boat for 2 fish in the cooler.

Yeah its not cheap but I like it to much to not fish. And I hate to wait on others to go.

It’s a shame cause those shorts are the best table fare. That’s why the commercial guys can keep them

Buddy’s fished deep on Tuesday .

had 56 fish between 3 guys . Only 2 keepers .

said every other fish was 17” or over to just shy of 18”

 

nothing new , July and August are by far the better months to fluke here.

I'm going in the RB tomorrow.  I'll let you know how it is up here.

I went down by Sea Bright Saturday and had similar results.  Bunch of shorts and only 1 keeper.  My dad caught a small bonita.

I'll be out chasing them next week for the long 4th weekend out of Barnegat Inlet on my buddy's boat.

I love fluking but it just got to the point that it wasn't worth it anymore.

What a shame this fishery has become

 

 

I did GREAT at Shoprite the other day, got some fillets and they were already cleaned! LOL
