Thermacell Radius reviews?

Anybody using these yet?  Seems like they have been out for a little while now.  I always found the old butane Thermacells effective but clunky with having to always have AA batteries on hand, the mats, the butane cartridges, etc...  The Radius units with the rechargeable lithium ion batteries seem much easier-the only consumable is the repellent mat, and now they apparently offer one with a 40 hour life.  I'm looking at these just for my back porch/patio area more than hunting because I don't tend to get out until after skeeter season has ended.  As the name implies we have a fair amount of swampland surrounding us, so depending on wind, how much rain has occurred recently, and temperature, sitting on the back porch at night can either be very pleasant or very annoying.  I'm planning on ordering four of them them to post at each corner of our 20' x 20' back porch/patio area.  Finally, anyone know the difference between the Gen 1.0 or the Gen 2.0?  Looking at them on the Thermacell website I can't really tell the difference between the $5.00 in price?

Never had a need to use them in NJfor hunting  but used then in S.Carolina and New Brunswick Canada and they work well. 

I live on a small fresh water lake on Raritan Bay which spills into the bay via small creek. We always have skeeters and thick. Nothing this year for the first time in 30 years. Even the 3 variety of swallow normally circling the lake and feeding on them are gone. I think the amount of rain we are having the skeeter larvae is being flushed out into the bay and that’s the only logical explanation I can come up with

Looks like the Gen2 last longer. Go on Amazon and they have the Gen 1.0 for $36 or $49 for the Gen 2.0

I use them for parties as well.  I'd rather have batteries I can swap out.

I must be the exception because I had purchased a thermacell not long after they came out and I found it to be ineffective; it just didn't keep mosquitos away.  So because of this, I doubt I'll be buying another.

I was skeptical at 1st but for me it works very well. Maybe you were too far away from the unit?

Nope.  Used it when hunting in a treestand and the unit was less than 2 feet away from me.  And also used it camping and the unit was within 3 feet of me.  Didn't work worth a crap.
