2019 Turkey Poults?

Has anyone seen many or any hens with poults? I always seen the first ones during season and this year I have not seen any. Even while driving around for work none. I have had this hen in my yard and garden this past week and no poults. Maybe has a nest near by but not sure. All the rain this spring won't help the chick survival.

I havent seen many poults and lots of single hens.  Thats been the norm in zone 6-7 for the last few years.  It seems we get that heavy cold rain every year right when most poults are born diminishing their survival.  The ridiculous amount if fox, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, hawks and owls dont help either!

Same here was just talking about it yesterday.  Hens had 12 or more with them initially.  Couple weeks ago I saw one hen with 4-5 and yesterday saw two hens with zero.  I thought the feral cats around here got to them.

Time for you to get to the feral cats :shotgun:

Every late spring someone starts this exact thread and it's always Gloom & Doom for our wild turkeys.  Right up until the numbers don't change the next hunting season.  I find it somewhat comical.  Same for fawn deer or lack of same every year.  And it's always overhunting and predators to blame.  :)

Yep. I saw a group about a week ago in my travels, right after the heavy thunderstorms. Wild turkeys can have hatches as late as August, as long as it's not a brutal winter those late hatches will make it.

Catch & release is for guys who don't know how to cook. :cook:
