Flukey Afternoon

Zipper

Recommended Posts

I got out for a couple hours this afternoon in Ocean County waters. Battled  wind vs tide for most of the trip, and a heavy wind at that. Persistence paid off, as the wind died down and a mini blitz occurred on the top.of the tide. I was able to bucktail  6 fluke in 15 minutes when the conditions were right up to 20 inches.  I  had a 18.5, and an 18 to get my limit.

My buddy would beat fish off my line with the net when we made bets for the biggest fish. I stopped making bets and all of the sudden he became a expert netter some how?

The one I think I cried a little watching it swim away, it was my biggest in a couple years.  Not huge  by Dan's standards but a nice fish

Tried to duplicate the initial trip yesterday. Wind was pushing me off the edge I was fishing from a different direction. Water temperature was same 64 degrees on incoming, but fish didn't turn on.  Had 3 light hits, missed 2 and caught just 1 short at 16 inches. That's fishing! Hopefully the heavy winds will lay down soon.
