What is the source of heat, electric ?

Wood pellets

They make many flavors, hickory, mesquite, Apple, signature blend, etc.

Set the control to the temp or just smoke and forget about it. Temp stays with in five degrees or so of setting

Ambient temp doesn't effect it like it does when smoking?

Not sure I understand the question

When on the lowest setting or smoke setting. The auger feeds the pellets in groups and the fan is reduced. So when a build up of pellets happens it smolders and smokes heavy.

On higher settings the feed rates increases and fan blows to increase flame and temp.

The temp for smoking is 150 or so, maybe 180

It's all good, I just have problems maintaining smoking temps if it's too hot or too cold out. I'm not exactly a master at smoking meats.

Love my  traeger  Ive had it for about ten years and just ordered a new fire pot should be here today so I  can get back to grilling. You ain't had chicken till you had it on a traeger. That had to be one of my best Investments ever

Oh man, I wish mine had worked like that. I got wild temp swings. When set on 225, it would swing from 180 to 270, sometimes 5 or 6 times every hour. Seemed like it was constantly swinging like that. Their customer service was really bad too. Called them 3 times about it and they finally told me it was an issue with the pellets forming some kind of tunnel in the hopper and not feeding correctly, and I just had to stir them every hour or so. Not quite set it and forget it.

Loved the idea of the Traeger, but mine was junk, took it back for a refund because it was still under warranty. I know many people have good luck with them, and that's why I bought one but after doing some internet research on the problems I was having, I found many people were having the same issues I was. Seems it was a controller issue and it's not as uncommon with Traeger as it used to be. They get their controller from China now, and use the exact same parts as the Pit Boss.  Funny thing is when I was at the store buying it, a guy in there was telling me to save my money and buy a Pit Boss because they are the same machine, just much cheaper, and about as reliable. I scoffed at him.
