The new ride...

not on the rug

Recommended Posts

I ended up not going for the Jeep SRT for my next project and decided on a bimmer instead.  The X5M is a great place to start.  555hp/500lb ft tq twin turbo V8.  O-60 in 4 flat.  Not terrible for a 5300 lb SUV.  I've made a few minor exterior tweaks so far, but the custom exhaust, suspension work and  wheel powdercoating will be the first mods of the summer.  Then probably a Velos Stage 1 tune (adding 90hp and 120 tq) and some fresh tires this fall/winter.

It's hard to see in the pics, but the color is carbon black...like old fashioned carbon paper.  Its black when you look at it one way and then deep blue from another angle or in different light.  Also, it is absolutely filthy right now...covered in pollen and bugs, so cut me some slack on that.

Thoughts on wheel colors guys?  I'm back and forth between a matte black or a matte dark gray/graphite.  I'm leaning towards black to match the grilles/trim/etc that I've been adding

I am also a former BMW owner, we had 6 of them in the 3 series...I kind of miss them

I cant wait to see pics of it with a deer/cargo rack with a deer in it:up:

BTW, do you need help stacking that wood?

Just asking.  :lookaround:

Asking for a friend?  Seriously, I always need help splitting and stacking wood

Right on.  This is my first BMW.  I always built Nissan and Infiniti cars.  I made sure to find one that already had the tow package on it, or that was going to be my first mod.  I've hunted out of all kinds of fancy vehicles before, this one won't be any different

SO glad you decided to pull the trigger on her. It is immaculate and is already in beast mode, bone stock!

Agree with your choice of wheel color. Enjoy it and have fun Phil! Great ride

Wait! I thought you said BMW’s were only worth leasing? JK just busting balls. They make a ton of power with just a few tweets. Congrats!

I know... but I figured if I was dumb enough to want to buy a Jeep, I'm dumb enough to buy a German car.  That, and I can get auto warranties for cost, so for a few K, I'm covered bumper to bumper

Thanks buddy.  I love this beast and simply get blown away with how fast it is and how well it handles for such a large vehicle.  I can't wait to take it to the next level.
