Make sure you're wearing long sleeves though.  I've had my arms scratched up pretty bad by the spurs cuz the birds are still thrashing around a bunch as they fall.

Au contraire, it's not the pellets that generally kills the bird, it's the tumble down the tree. There really IS a science to this once you have it figured out.
