Vito won't be a trip without you!   Remember we have Bonefreak to catch all the skates, should be easy pickins!

I got moved to another store and this one is a challenge to say the least,  I'll bring my light all star n somthing a but heavier case we hit deeper parts of the raritan..  I have extra rods but they are more suited for deeper water but will do someone better than a rental rod.

those were some monster skates you caught!    Never seen anything quite like it... you were a magnet.   I definitely appreciated all those 'assists' removing those pesky obstacles away from my rig, thus allowing all those fluke to bite me instead.   You definitely are a team player!  (no wonder you have so many friends)

Jack, if OMC and Johnboy are on this boat, y'all should just hand them the pool winning money when you guys get on board! :peace:

OK - I have some questions being a total newbie:

  • What rod to use - I already have an old Penn Power Graph 6'6" medium action rod rated for 1/2oz-1oz lures - will this rod work from a boat?  I am thinking that I will not really be casting
  • What reel - I have an old Abu 6500CL - will this work?
  • Also what range of bucktail - weights should I bring?

in bay be prepared for 1 ounce to 6 ounce I would guess but if back bay and shallower 2 -3 ounce I would imagine should be common.  If for some  reason end up in deep ambrose channel, could use 6+.   Sounds like your setup is idea for most part, 15lb braid would be good choice for line

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…
