I was able to locate a gobbler not to far from a blind that I set up last week near a strut zone. With the rain starting to fall once again, I called till he answered and then slowly walked back towards the blind, calling occasionally. He never answered but I decided to take shelter in the blind anyway as the rain increased.

After about 1/2 hour the rain stopped and I heard a gobble near the spot I stood when he first gobbled. Another 15 or 20 minutes passed before I saw his white head . he was sneaking in silent, when he got to about 40 yards away ... Bang.

F'ing slaughter! Having a minor degree in psychology,  I am pretty sure you have a turkey psychosis.  Were you ever chased or attacked by a turkey as a child?  ;) Congrats.

Now I know why I just have a hen running around my house. I know he hunts somewhere close to me.

nice MIKE - you are the GOBBLERGETTER!      Congratulations.  Glad to see this never gets old - keep on doing it, we never know when it's gonna be our last one.   (just attended a funeral).   Never let this stuff get old.

So what is your favorite way to cook them? I would say you had more practice than most

Cut in thumb size pieces

Marinade over night in Stubbs chicken marinade

Cut bacon strips in 3rds and wrap and pin with toothpick

Grill till bacon is done.

Enjoy

As for the hen... She is safe , I don't fall hunt, more damage to the population is done by shooting 1 hen , then a dozen spring gobblers.
