Daiwa Lexa 400 Review

Has anyone tried the Daiwa Lexa 400 series?

I’m looking for a new Saltwater Casting reel for Fluking / Seabass and they seem good. They claim to have 25 lbs of drag and are low profile which is what I want. I already have a larger Daiwa  Saltist for Blackfishing and it has been nothing but good to me. Really not looking to break the bank on the reel since I am also picking up a rod to match it. Really only want a low profile casting reel , no open faced conventional models.

Which one you looking at. They have a fair amount of the Lexa.

The 400 is good size low profile reel. Holds a lot of line. I think i'm getting another 300. Little smaller and comfortable.

What do you plan on using it for?

You guys prefer the double handles over the large single ? I like the Large single for salt

Get what you are most comfortable with. I see no need for a large single/power handle but thats just me. I would always rather have a double handle with fast retrieve for the fishing i do

Single handle is faster as it's longer from center pin.

I like single handle as it's more out of the way when jigging with 2 hands

Have to disagree on this one, handles closer to the center pin are faster due to the smaller rotation circumference. We could always go out on your boat, drop jigs to the bottom in 50’ of water and race to the surface LOL loser has to sit idle and watch the winner fish for an hour :eyebrow:

Outside of the circle is moving faster being further away. .

Guess you never rode a bike lol.

I probably would lose the 50 foot race because I would have a big fluke on my line .

Its moving faster because it has to cover more distance, more distance equals more time with a given rate of speed, guess physics isn’t your forte’ :P
